Carved Mahogany Chaise Longue, High-backed Chair, Napoleon III Period
A beautiful Napoleon III period armchair/high-backed chair in carved and veneered mahogany. Our armchair boasts exquisite woodwork; the upper back is beautifully openwork and carved with a rosebud and foliage motif, while the uprights are finished with delicate finials. The front legs of the seat are mounted on casters. The upholstery is in very good condition, and the seat is firm. It is covered in a very elegant satin fabric in shades of anise green, adorned with a floral design that echoes the carvings on the seat. Overall, it is in very good condition, with an old restoration to the carving. Note a slight and discreet stain on the seat fabric (see photo).
