"Stamp E. Dieudonne, Master In 1740, Armchair With Flat Back Or Queen's Armchair, 18th Century"
Large armchair with a flat back, called "à la Reine" back, from the Louis XV period, stamped E DIEUDONNE. This very beautiful seat is made of natural waxed and patinated wood. The sobriety of the molding work contrasts with a magnificent covering fabric in perfect condition and entirely embroidered in half-stitch representing a floral decoration composed of carnations, cornflowers, forget-me-nots and wildflowers in shades of pink and blue. The upholstery is recent and in excellent condition. Wide and comfortable seat. This armchair bears the stamp E.DIEUDONNE on the outside of the rear crosspiece. Jean-Etienne II Dieudonné came from a large family of Parisian cabinetmakers. He was received as a master on June 27, 1740 and specialized in the manufacture of beds and seats in the Louis XV style. He collaborated with famous sculptors of his time (Boudoux, Régnier, etc.). Armchair in very good condition. Minor wear and old restorations.
