"England Circa 1800, Mahogany Wine Cooler With Zinc, Georges III"
A very rare icebox/cooler in mahogany and mahogany veneer. English manufacture from the very beginning of the 19th century. This interesting little piece of furniture is composed of three parts: a four-legged base on small brass casters, a chest, and a zinc top. This icebox could ideally be used as a bar but also as a small storage unit, side table, etc. It is in very good condition but obviously shows some wear, particularly on the lid which is slightly faded from sunlight (see detail photo). It features a beautiful brass band, a lion's head knob on the lid, and handsome, thick gilt brass handles on each side of the chest section. The piece is sold without a key. Interior dimensions of the zinc top: 51cm x 37cm / height: approximately 39cm. Base: 58cm x 45cm / height 35cm. Chest section: 64cm x 45cm / height 36cm.
