"Pair Of Chairs Known As "à La Reine" Chairs, Louis XV Period, Circa 1730-1740, 18th Century"
A sumptuous pair of Louis XV period chairs, known as "à la reine" chairs, circa 1730-1740. These chairs are a very rare model of high-backed seating, still reminiscent of the Regency style due to their opulent proportions. We have deliberately included one of these chairs in photo number 11, positioned next to a "à la reine" armchair from the same period, to illustrate the unusual dimensions of these exceptional seats. Our chairs are made of molded beechwood, richly carved with leaf and scroll motifs. The shell legs are topped with acanthus leaves. These chairs are in very good condition. There are some old traces of wood-boring insects, which are inconsequential and common on this type of furniture. Some minor restorations have obviously been carried out: a few grafts and repairs are visible (see photo 9 in particular). Stable structure, beautiful dark patina with a waxed finish. The upholstery is a very fine Genoa velvet in soft pink tones. Comfortable and plush seating thanks to the cushions.
