A 19th-century Dresden Porcelain Figural Scent Bottle Lady And Dog.
Artist: Helena Wolfsohn
19th-century Dresden porcelain lady and dog figural scent bottle
A 19th-century Dresden porcelain lady and dog figural scent bottle, probably by the Helena Wolfsohn factory, modelled on an 18th-century Meissen original. The head of the dog is the stopper for the bottle. The metal-mounted base has a mirror inset. 8.5 cm (3.4 ins) high.
Note: We have seen an example of this bottle with the mirror inset mount detached. The porcelain base beneath had an Augustus Rex mark, an early Meissen mark that the Helena Wolfsohn factory copied and was sued for doing so in 1879 and stopped using it in 1881. We speculate that the mirror base mount may have been a way to cover the mark, enabling existing stock to continue to be sold.
Condition: There is a repaired break at her neck, which is not very noticeable as it resembles a necklace. We have priced this piece accordingly. No other issues found.
Shipping is free for the UK, EU, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Please note that any import charges are the responsibility of the purchaser.
