"Antique Continental Faience Cup And Saucer, Meissen-style Decoration"
                    
                    An unusual and interesting faience cup and saucer, of lobed form, decorated in the 18th-century style of Meissen with well-painted courting couples in landscapes and flowers in puce, and scrolls in puce and gilt. The outside of the rim of the cup is gilded, as is the inside of the rim of the saucer.  Probably 18th-century. With unidentified “D/14” over-glaze marks to the bases in dark blue.

Saucer diameter: 13.5cm (5.3in)
Condition: in excellent original condition. Some pinprick glaze bubbles and 3 small marks of glaze accretions on the underside of the saucer. No indications of restoration found under ultraviolet light.
