Double Oval Reliquary – Saint Charles Borromeo and Saint Teresa the Virgin – Italy, early 19th century.

Authentic oval reliquary in silvered metal, an antique piece with a peripheral twisted decoration. The interior is very carefully presented on a green silk background, adorned with gilt leaf radiating from the stone and a border of metal wires forming regular cartouches.

Description:

It contains two authentic relics:
• Caroli Bor. – Saint Charles Borromeo (Archbishop of Milan, Cardinal, great post-Tridentine reformer)
• S. Teresiae, V. – Saint Teresa the Virgin (probably Teresa of Avila or Teresa of the Child Jesus according to local usage, but here the old abbreviation "V." explicitly indicates the status of consecrated virgin).

The two fragments are placed in separate gilt glories, separated by handwritten name bands in period calligraphy, perfectly legible.

Sealed reverse: Original closure intact with red wax seal under protection, silk threads still present.
The seal is well preserved, guaranteeing its inviolability since that time.

Condition:

Very good condition. Even antique patina. Fresh interior silk, without sagging. Seal unbroken. Normal signs of age on the mount.

In accordance with canon law (can. 1190 §1), this sale concerns only the reliquary as a sacred work of art.
The relics it contains are not the object of the transaction, but are included free of charge for their historical and cultural value.
