Macchad Rug, Signed, 250 X 356 Cm, Hand-knotted Kork Wool, Made In Iran Around 1980, Very Good Condition
Mashhad or Mashhad rug, Iran, circa 1980.
Hand-knotted in kork wool with approximately 360,000 knots per square meter.
This piece is signed by the master weaver in white on a pale blue background (see photos).
In very good, almost perfect condition. This beautiful rug comes from the Mashhad province.
Mashhad is the second largest city in Iran, located in the northeast and nicknamed "the city of a thousand faces."
This rug is in excellent condition.
It features a large sixteen-pointed medallion, accompanied by two pendants in the shape of inverted halberds. The field is a deep red bordered by four spandrels in a bold pale blue design.
Across the entire field appear delicate, undulating scrolls, palm fronds, and numerous garlands of flowers.
The vibrant colors are remarkably fresh. The field is predominantly red with various shades of blue.
The intricately designed border consists of fairly narrow side bands decorated with flowers and a wide central band adorned with a floral motif of peonies, carnations, roses, and more.
The fringes are in good condition and very clean, the pile is clean and sound, and the edges are very good.
This rug has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.

346 cm (136") without fringes.
At 1 cm thick, it is a very comfortable rug.
