A Berber terracotta dish with a rare design featuring a portrait and a necklace,
Sejnane, Tunisia.

Decorated with tribal motifs and a necklace
circa 1900, in good condition. (Very good condition for its age)
Clay is generally extracted from wadi beds by women.
It is cut into lumps, crushed, purified, and soaked before being kneaded and shaped.
Once fired, the pottery is decorated with two-tone geometric patterns.
These motifs are reminiscent of traditional tattoos and Berber weavings.
