Antique Malayer rug, Iran, Persia, in hand-knotted wool under the Kadjar dynasty. Antique Malayer rug circa 1900/1920 with a respective size of 103 cm x 192 cm in length, in very good condition of velvet, wear of use on the edges, small fringes, very solid rug. Our model has a decoration quite rare for this type of rug and its Persian origin. The colors, dark red, putty, straw yellow, accompanied by a hint of forest green, black and wine lees, as well as the pale apricot color which dominates. The beautifully drawn border is made up of realistic flowers, and stars or stylized flowers decorated with kotchaks, .These carpets are knotted in strong, thick, shiny thread, always dyed with natural dyes for old pieces, and of course hand-spun ..This thread gives a resistant surface and a beautiful palette of colors.They have in common (the Hamadan) to be now woven with cotton warp threads and a weft thread between each row of knots, a lost tradition revived around 1980.The patterns are often geometric, but we also find very elaborate floral patterns.## More recent carpets, after 1980 are often made of synthetic colors and wool of lower quality than old carpets.Generally speaking, we can say that Malayer carpets are very good carpets for everyday use and some wonders like our model ennoble these pieces.the large family of Hamadan carpets includes types of carpets, such as: Bortchalou, Enjilas, Hosseinabad, Lilihan, Khamse, Zanjan and the Malayer, model that we present.
