Wall-mounted holy water font, made of mercury-gilt copper with repoussé and openwork decoration of scrolls, foliate tendrils, and a basket of fruit. In the center, an enameled Limoges plaque depicting the Virgin Mary in profile, known as the Virgin of Sorrows, surrounded by golden rays against a black background studded with stars. Holy water cup in the shape of a shell adorned with a winged mask. The entire font is mounted on a wooden plaque covered in brown velvet within a frame of the same period, France, 18th century. In used condition.
