Silver Offering Dish – Probably Hanau Work, Late 19th / Early 20th Century
Oval silver offering dish, repoussé and chased decoration, the central medallion depicting a Medieval battle scene before a fortified wall: armored figures in combat within a wooded landscape, finely detailed and deeply worked.
The border is richly adorned with acanthus scrolls, fruits, and oak motifs, framing the central scene. The upper section features a female or angelic bust in high relief, with elaborate coiffure, flanked by cascading foliage. Hammered reverse.
Probably Hanau (Germany), historicist production in the Renaissance Revival style, inspired by 16th-century models.
