Copper Engraving

Artist: D’après Albrecht Dürer

Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), after

"The Knight, Death and the Devil", 1513

Copper engraving on laid paper (handmade paper), later 18th-century print,

dimensions approx. 12.5 × 10.5 cm (trimmed), with no visible trace of the bowl.

Representation of the famous horseman accompanied by the allegorical figures of Death and the Devil, after one of Dürer's engraved masterpieces. The smaller format and softer quality of the line indicate a late, reproduction print from the original composition.

Presented in an 18th-century Italian frame of carved and gilded wood, with openwork rocaille and fleur-de-lys decoration.

Condition: leaf slightly browned and trimmed; good decorative appearance. Frame with wear and missing gilding.
