French Baroque Silver Monstrance, Decorated With Sunbeams And Angels' Heads, 56 Cm, 1850
Antique silver monstrance, complete and richly decorated with sunbeams. Besides a complete and intact set of sunbeams, there are angel heads, motifs of wheat, clouds, flowers, and finely stylized leaves, as well as a Lamb of God on the front of the base. Made in France between 1850 and 1880.
The monstrance comprises the following elements and hallmarks, including the Mercury silver hallmark, 1st degree:
Base: two hallmarks on the back.
Center: silver, unhallmarked.
Upper part: hallmark under the right-hand angel. (The silver door is hallmarked on the reverse.)
Sunbeams: hallmark to the left of the cross.
Cross: hallmark on the top.
In very good used condition. The Luna is missing.
