Antique French Bronze Seal Featuring A Female Bust – 19th Century
Welcome. I am pleased to present this item from my collection.
A large, heavy bronze desk seal depicting a richly detailed female bust. This elegant lady wears her hair up, adorned with flowers, and a sumptuous gown inspired by Louis XV and Rococo styles.
The seal was cast in bronze and then carefully chiseled. Its surface features a dark patina, likely protected by an old layer of wax. On the raised areas, natural wear reveals the warm golden-brown color of the bronze, highlighting the richness of the relief.
The lower part retains its original matrix, engraved with an elegant interlaced monogram. With its substantial weight and sculptural quality, this object is not only a functional seal but also a charming little bronze sculpture intended to adorn a desk or join a collection.
Probably French, from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1850–1880.
The object is in good vintage condition, with age- and use-related wear on the patina and wax coating. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they are an integral part of the description.
