"Antique French Finely Carved Coconut Snuffbox – Wedding Scene – Early 19th Century"
Antique coconut snuffbox, finely carved, depicting a wedding scene. The nut has three side engravings: the one on the left is "to ask for her hand." The girl is still with her father and her future husband is in front of them. The central engraving represents the young couple, happy and newly married. The third engraving represents a large basket of flowers. It was used to express love, friendship, and gratitude. Beside the three panels, the lower part is also finely carved.
In very good condition: two small cracks and two small pieces of nut missing from the top. Not annoying, but good to know.
