Oval Relic From The Early 18th Century, Adorned With Eight Saints
Magnificent oval relic in solid copper, fitted with a twisted eyelet and a seal depicting eight saints. From top to bottom, clockwise, are represented:
Saint Francis,
Saint Fulgentius,
Saint Henry,
Saint Stanislaus,
Saint Clare,
Saint Louis,
Saint Francis Xavier,
and Saint Fructuosus.
The base is a piece of handwoven red silk, onto which are attached eight rolls of white paper bearing the names of the saints. Above each roll is a sheet of blue or red checkered paper containing the relic. It probably dates from the 18th century. It opens at the back, revealing the seal and cords, still in perfect condition.
Height: 11.2 cm (with eyelet)
Width: 9.7 cm.
The relic shows signs of use but is in fairly good condition. One piece of blue paper and four gold discs are missing. Two other pieces of blue paper are also missing.
Thank you for visiting my online shop. Sincerely, Ben
