Lime Spatula, Astrolabe Bay, Oceania
This very rare and elegant lime spatula comes from Astrolabe Bay, on the southern coast of Madang Province, in the Bismarck Sea, Papua New Guinea.
The object is made of human bone, most likely carved from a long bone, such as the fibula or tibia. The spatula has a tapered end terminating in two lateral wings, the tips of which are missing due to previous breaks.
An old collection number is inscribed in pen: No. 349.
