This rare photograph depicts a group of three dancers from northern New Britain, in the village of Matupi, near Rabaul. Their bodies and faces are covered with painted designs. They appear to be presenting their feather ornaments to the photographer.
Platinum print, early 20th century. Good condition, small loss at two corners.
