Mouse Divination Box , Baoulé Ethnic Group, Ivory Coast
Old oracle box used for divination by mice. It is composed of a wooden base on which rests a terracotta pot held by basketry ties. It is complete with its earthen interior allowing the mice to travel to the base. Beautiful black patina. Some accidents and misses on the edge of the pot.
