"édouard Febvre 1885-1967 - Large Post-impressionist Canvas - Caravans In Spring "
A luminous and pleasing post-impressionist canvas dated 1957 depicting a spring landscape with figures and caravans... The work is signed by the painter Édouard Febvre (1885-1967), to whom the Bénézit dictionary devotes a significant chapter. He is a painter well-known to collectors, belonging to the same generation of artists as Maurice Utrillo (1883-1955) and Élisée Maclet (1881-1962). Like them, his paintings most often express life in the working-class neighborhoods of Paris, those of Montmartre and the Parisian suburbs, the inner suburbs, and the "Zone" (the "zone"). His figures are generally of modest means and reflect the world of laborers, Roma, street performers, and sometimes even simple tramps. Values and auction results: he is exactly the kind of artist to collect "without breaking the bank" because the quality of his paintings is... Undeniable, and its value has remained quite affordable compared to some artists of his generation: his record of over 4700 euros was set in 1998 for a canvas depicting "a view of the Parc Monceau," and among his other results are more than thirty paintings sold between 1000 and 3800 euros /Source: Art Price. - Ask me for more photos if needed - Canvas size: 46 cm x 38 cm Frame (recent): 52 cm x 44 cm - Note that I will be offering about ten works by this artist in the coming days.
