A decorative early 20th-century Japanese porcelain incense burner, probably Kutani, with a sculptural square body rising on four bracket feet. The entire surface is treated as a continuous narrative: scholar-sages, attendants, dragons and auspicious beasts move through clouds and pine trees. The lid is surmounted by a bold shishi finial glazed in a rich translucent green that brings sculptural depth to the piece.
The palette—iron-red ground with vivid greens, yellows and blues—reads strongly in contemporary interiors while retaining traditional Japanese character.
