Imperial Guard Chasseurs à Cheval Sabre; Second Model. First Empire (1810-1815). Hungarian-style sabre entirely in brass. Hussar-style hilt with a single molded branch, long-tailed pommel; straight quillon; faceted quillons; wooden grip covered in leather inlaid with double brass wire. The quillon branch bears the "Versailles" bar and an erased hallmark, and below the branch is a "V" for "Versailles". Curved blade with a single fuller, flat back signed "Manufacture Impériale de Klingenthal août 1813", length 86 cm; width at the ricasso 3.7 cm, thickness 1.1 cm. It is hallmarked at the ricasso with the "K" hallmark surmounted by a star and the "B" hallmark. Curved scabbard with a wooden stock and two suspension rings. The scabbard opening is fitted with a cup. Rectangular bands with a domed body, bordered at the top and bottom with a raised band; oval suspension loops; steel ring. In the central section between the two suspension loops, the scabbard has a 17 cm by 2.5 cm opening, the ends of which are rounded. This opening reveals the black varnished leather, framed by two brass splints riveted to the scabbard with four brass rivets. Steel chape. Weapon length 103.5 cm. In good condition. France.
