A Mameluke officer's saddle pistol of the Imperial Guard, Model Year X, First Empire. Round barrel with flats at the breech, the upper flat extending to the front sight, 27.2 cm long, 32 cm long including the breech tang, 14.5 cm caliber, stamped "BC" in a rectangle, "BOUTET" in a bar; "NB" in an octagon and a stamp now illegible due to black powder oxidation, and signed on the upper flat: "Entse Boutet". The small lock plate is of the round Model Year IX gendarmerie type, brass pan; signed: "MANUFRE À VERSAILLES" and "DB" in an oval, the mark of controller Daniel Bouyssavy in Versailles from 1795 to 1808. Walnut stock with a fore-end flush with the muzzle. Brass furniture, all stamped "DB" in an oval, by the inspector Daniel Bouyssavy. Two ramrod rests, the front one cylindrical. A half-chrolaise-shaped trigger guard with a leaf-shaped cut end; the rear branch is rounded and secured by a steel screw. An oval-shaped butt cap secured by a screw. Two large, domed-head lockplate screws resting on winged rosettes. A whalebone ramrod ending in a brass tip. Overall length 40.5 cm. Very good condition, slight oxidation from use. France. Consulate/First Empire.
