*************
Pewter bowl with openwork console ears of hearts and geometric patterns, fitted with its very slightly domed lid with a fixed ring grip in an accolade, decorated with moldings and a central frieze of swirling lambrequins matched with fleurons.
Hallmark affixed twice by Nicolas V FAGUET received master in 1710, modified and used by Nicolas VI Ursain FAGUET received in 1726 : FIN / crowned hammer / band / N.FAGVET.
Length: 29 cm
LISIEUX, Between 1726 and 1741 date of the death of Nicolas VI
Rare model in very good condition.
There are two types of bowls, the one with a flat-topped lid, which appeared at the end of the 17th century, and the one with a nippled lid, which appeared around 1715/20. However, both models and their variants coexisted during the first half of the 18th century. The model proposed here with its very slightly curved lid is intermediate.
The clear horizontal band under the hammer of the hallmark attests to this modification; in fact the hallmark of Nicolas V included the date 17-10 on either side of the hammer that his successor parent crossed out.
