"Large Oriental Sculpture 1900 - Polychrome Plaster - Egyptian Water Carrier"
Large and beautiful orientalist sculpture from around 1900 which represents a young Egyptian woman carrying water...The work is not signed but its style is very close to the famous Czech sculptor Friedrich Goldscheider (1845-1897) who is certainly the reference artist in this field: indeed, during the entire Art-Nouveau period 1880-1900, and until the Art-Deco years 1920-1930, there was a renewed interest in orientalism and decorative arts. This type of sculpture was then very fashionable and often declined in all materials, notably Bronze, Terracotta, or even like the one proposed here in a plaster enhanced with polychrome paintings ... - note some lacks & small shocks here and there (handles of the jar glued back on), without real consequences on the quality of the work and quite basic to correct - Size height: 73 cm / weight (approximately): 6 kg Face (base base): 23 cm / Side (base base): 17 cm
