Louis XVI Period Mahogany Secretary

High-quality secretaire in solid and seneered cuban mahogany, on oak and pine.

This elegant piece is composed of:

• an upper drawer

• a central fall-front desk lined with its original green leather, gilt-tooled

• two lower doors concealing a drawer with a mahogany front

When opened, the fall-front reveals a refined interior theatre with eight drawers (one with a double front), three arched niches, and fine pilasters inlaid with brass fillets and panels. A hidden compartment is concealed beneath the central drawer.

The secretaire is topped with a white Carrara marble surrounded by an openwork brass gallery. Its fluted columns are adorned with brass rings and mounts, its façades and sides are framed with brass fillets, and it rests on turned feet decorated with bronze rings. All locks are original and come with their keys.

Condition: Overall very good presentation. Some veneer cracks, a few brass inlays to restore, two missing inlays in the rear pilasters’ fluting, and one missing handle on an interior drawer.
