Antique crucifix in carved wood and Christ in polychrome metal alloy – 17th or 18th century,
probably Southern Italy

Very old devotional crucifix presenting a Christ in cast alloy with a high lead content, modeled with expressive realism and traces of original polychromy (remains of flesh and blood).

Description

The body, with nervous anatomy, is encircled by a perizonium tied on the side.
The arms are stretched upwards, hands open, feet superimposed.
The dark wooden cross, carved with polylobed ends, shows rustic work typical of popular Mediterranean productions.

Dimensions: Height 27 cm – Width 18 cm

Condition

Useful wear, lack of material and surface alterations, but beautiful appearance of old patina and intact authenticity.
