Authentic oval-shaped silver-plated reliquary dating from the 17th century.
Description
The red cloth base holds six small relics, each encased in a gilded paper mount forming eye- or diamond-shaped motifs, enhanced with fine metal filigree.
Each relic is identified by a carefully calligraphed handwritten Latin label. It includes, among others, the names of St. Joseph, St. Petri, St. VM, St. Juliani, and St. Gregorii, attesting to the spiritual richness of this piece.
The reverse is sealed with a period red wax seal, held together by original silk threads, guaranteeing the authenticity and integrity of the relics. This type of seal is typical of authentic ecclesiastical reliquaries, probably from a monastery or religious congregation. The frame is decorated with carved and embossed leaves, adding a baroque touch to the whole, with a bail allowing it to be hung.
