Pair of Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Firedogs with Antique Pots, 19th Century Very beautiful Pair of Louis XVI Style chiseled and gilded bronze firedogs, they are very rich and very architectural. Mid-19th Century Period. Description: This very rich pair of Louis XVI style firedogs from the mid-19th century presents a remarkable architecture. Rectangular in shape with projections, each firedog is punctuated by a rounded central part in projection. The front is decorated with flat moldings, rosettes, floral scrolls and heart-shaped rais-de-coeur. In the center of each firedog stands an elegant covered firepot in antique form. This tripod pot rests on richly foliated ram's feet and is decorated with striations, asparagus motifs and hollow gadroons. A floral bud crowns the top of the lid. On either side of the pot, two delicate branches with leaves and buds are topped with burst pomegranates. The whole rests on three spinning top legs with collars, finely molded and covered with foliage. These legs are connected by two large falls in floral garlands. Dimensions: Width 38 cm Height 28 cm Depth with Holding Iron 8 cm Beautifully crafted, around thirty bronze pieces make up a single andiron. This gives it a superior level of quality.
