Model called "à la Russe", circa 1809-1810 Rare black felt bicorn hat, worn in battle, attributable to a senior officer of the 4th Dragoon Regiment, Empire period. This is the so-called "à la Russe" model, introduced around 1809-1810, recognizable by its asymmetrical horns: the rear horn is longer and descends lower than the front one, foreshadowing the stylistic evolution of bicorns after the Empire. The rim is decorated with a black braid with a "dice cul" pattern, reinforced with a metal wire ensuring its rigidity.
