Shinshinto Katana

Katana from the late Edo to Meiji period.

Blade: Otoshi-zukuri (V-shaped cross-section with two faces) blade, Iori-mune (two-sided) blade spine.
O-kissaki (long) points. Shinoji (11 mm) (face 1).
Jigane (19 mm) (face 2 towards the edge). Funagata tang, Kurijiri tip, unsigned.
Hamon (temper line), Suguha (straight and almost no longer visible).
Nagasa (length): 71.5 cm.

Saya (scabbard): black lacquered with Kojiri iron at the bottom.
25.5 cm iron fuchi kachira handle.
Menuki depict a coiled dragon (possibly silver).
Brown lacing.

This sword shows significant signs of heavy use and was likely used for a long time, perhaps by an officer in the 20th century. The very strong blade weighs 1.6 kg and could easily be repolished. Feel free to ask any questions.
