"Large Gien Earthenware Dish With Neo-renaissance Decor, France, Second Half Of The 20th Century "
Large earthenware dish with a scalloped shape, produced by the Gien earthenware factory in the second half of the 20th century, based on the models created by this Loiret earthenware factory in the second half of the 19th century. This is a hand-painted model, as indicated by the stamp on the reverse, accompanied by the decorator's initials "AB". The polychrome decoration of great finesse takes up the ornamental repertoire of the Italian Renaissance: winged chimeras, leafy scrolls, tritons and putti flourish on a deep blue background typical of Gien productions, enhanced with luminous tones of yellow, orange, green... The whole is framed by an ochre net with a chain motif. Very balanced and decorative composition. With its beautiful dimensions (49.5 x 37 cm), this dish is a collector's item perfectly representative of the historicist taste that the Gien earthenware factory was able to perpetuate in the 20th century. Very good condition, without accidents or restoration. This piece comes from a set from a Parisian apartment.
