Object description :

"Pair Of Copperplate Engravings – Francesco Zuccarelli / Joseph Wagner – Venice, 18th Century"
Elegant pair of engravings on laid, watermarked paper bearing the mark "AV", created using copperplate intaglio technique. These prints depict pastoral scenes inspired by the paintings of Francesco Zuccarelli (1702–1788), a master of Arcadian landscape art in the 18th century. The engravings are attributed to Joseph Wagner (1706–1780), a renowned Venetian engraver and publisher, as indicated by the inscription "Zuccarelli pinx. / Wagner scul. Venezia C.P.E.S." at the bottom margin.
The scenes capture idyllic moments of rural life, populated by figures set within serene natural landscapes, executed with remarkable delicacy and tonal contrast.
The printed area measures 35.5 × 46.5 cm and the engravings are presented in veneered cherrywood frames measuring 52 × 62 cm.
