"Late 18th Century: The Young Draughtsman "
Imagine for a moment, you are a student at a drawing academy, perhaps in Rome, at the end of the 18th century and you are walking the streets and monuments to take sketches of architectural details, and at the foot of a statue, you meet a friend, studiously applying himself to drawing his subject, standing, leaning only on his board which he holds firmly. You have the irresistible urge to sketch him on the spot. It is a friendly practice between students already of a high level, to make their sketches on the fly, testimony to these talents in full maturation. It is also quite rare that it has reached us, fragile witnesses of a youth quickly flown by. The drawing in an old mat is presented on turntables, in a period frame. Perfect condition Dimensions of the sheet: 8 cm x 16.5 cm
