Circa 1900. "la Mare Au Canard" Pencil Holder, Bronzes De Vienne
Here is an object full of poetry, and yet so simple.
It is a pencil holder consisting of a long, slender mirror set in a small mahogany base—designed to evoke water and hold a pen holder— with a small Viennese bronze figurine at each end: a duckling on one side and a little frog on the other.
The patinas on the bronze figures are in very good condition—green for the frog, gold for the duck.
The mirror is slightly oxidized, a sign of its age, but the piece as a whole is in very good condition.
Nothing but charm.
