"Edouard Drouot. Young Satyr Playing The Aulos. Bronze "
At the turn of the century, up until the Great War, antiquity was an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Among the strange creatures that populated this poetic world, fauns, with their lascivious nature and humor, were the most intriguing. Consider the scandal of the ballet *L'Après-midi d'un faune* (The Afternoon of a Faun), created by Nijinsky to music by Debussy. It is no wonder that Édouard Drouot (1859-1945) succumbed to their charms, sculpting the model for this bronze. A student of Émile Thomas and Mathurin Moreau, he enjoyed a brilliant career with his works inspired by mythology. He was a member of the Société des Artistes Français and received numerous awards. Our young faun, dancing and blowing into his hat, has a lovely dark patina that perfectly highlights the movement of the work. Height: 45 cm
