The bell's casing is composed of two registers of semicircles framing irregular striations.
The handle is shaped like a magnificent mermaid, treated according to the codes of Art Deco.
She has her arms behind her, holding her tail, which forms a beautiful curve, projecting her torso forward. The lines are taut, the shapes full.
The bell is hallmarked:
. Minerva, 2nd grade for 800/°° solid silver
. Boar's head on the handle
Unfortunately, I was unable to find a silversmith's mark to identify the maker of this superb model.
A very beautiful bell, very heavy, a sign of quality. The Art Deco style, coupled with the pattern on the casing, suggests a date from the 1930s or 1940s, at the very beginning of modernism.
