Seal Carved With A Handshake, Silver Matrix. Freemason, Masonic? Late 19th Century.
Superb, very finely carved seal.
The tip of the seal is shaped like a multi-lobed seed. The shaft is formed by a handshake, a symbol of loyalty and commitment. Perhaps there is also a Masonic symbol with the fingers extending down to the wrists.
The silver matrix is richly decorated with scrolls. It is engraved with the number RV (?).
I could not find a hallmark attesting to the title on the silver part; there is a trace that could be a boar's head. However, there is a poorly struck diamond-shaped silversmith's mark guaranteeing the metal.
