Solid Gold Sewing Kit In Its Case. Napoleon III Period, 19th Century.

Magnificent gold sewing case from the Louis-Philippe period.

The kit consists of:
. Pair of gold and steel scissors (gross weight: 7.75 gr)
. Gold and steel punch (gross weight: 4.52 gr).
. Gold needle case (net weight: 4.83 gr)
. Gold thimble (net weight: 3.57 gr)
. Gold lace keeper (net weight: 0.95 gr)

All the parts, except the lace keeper, are finely engraved with flowers, foliage, quatrefoils, etc.

The tools are in a sculpted case, with hinges and latch in gilded metal and blued screws, numbered JS (?).
The hinge is marked "Breveté SGDG", a mention established in 1844.

The parts are hallmarked:
. Eagle head for 18k gold
. Goldsmith's hallmark barely legible, to be identified
