Takouba sword - Southern Algeria, Mali, Niger, 19th century and earlier Beautiful double-edged blade with a wide central fuller on the first third. Given the quality of the forging and the steel, the blade was probably imported from Europe and predates the mounting. However, I suspect the traditional stylized crescent moon markings to be later indigenous additions. Leather-covered steel handle. Minor damage to the leather.
