Luxury 16 gauge pinfire shotgun, Lefaucheux type - 2nd half of the 19th century Category D weapon. Very high quality construction and in good condition. Side-by-side Damascus steel barrels. Barrels marked "Chanut-Crozet in Saint Etienne". According to Pierre Jarlier in his directory of French arquebusiers and gunsmiths, Chanut-Crozet was a gunner in Saint-Etienne (France) between 1860 and 1870. Very firm barrels, without play. Finely engraved and damascened plates and opening key in gold with flying insects, notably butterflies and flies. Plates signed in gold "Lafond arquebusier in Argenton".
