Zoomorphic African statuette Mbotumbo - Africa, Ivory Coast, Baoulé peoplesAccording to the grainy patina and the wear of the wood, this statuette seems to be of good antiquity, probably from the first half of the 20th century. Representation of a monkey, hands clasped holding a cup. Among the Baoulé, these monkey representations are called Mbotumbo. They would have had the vocation of protecting crops. The cup held by the monkey was intended for receiving offerings. Height 31cm
