Pretty mantle clock model of a gilt and patinated bronze terminal clock from the Empire period signed Barrand in Paris with a study theme. Gilt bronze applique decoration on a patinated background. Decorated with a woman draped in antique style sitting on an "X" stool holding a scroll, feet resting on two books. She observes a cherub with a torch in her hand blowing to fan the flame of an oil lamp. The dial is surrounded by stars. The base is decorated with foliage and a lion mask. The sides are decorated with caduceus and swans leaning against each other. The clock rests on 4 wafer feet. White enamel dial with Roman numerals signed Barrand in Paris, the hands are in gilt bronze.
Movement with an 8-day running time striking the hours and half-hours. Wire suspension. Movement and chime in very good working order. Complete clock with key, gong and pendulum. Height 38 cm, width 21.5 cm, depth 14.5 cm
