About

Gustav Bolin (1920-1999), a Swedish painter trained in Paris, developed a body of work between figuration and abstraction, inspired by landscape and nature.
After early work influenced by André Lhote, he began exhibiting successfully in Paris in 1948. His style evolved towards a synthesis of forms and colors, expressing the essence of things rather than their appearance.
Presented alongside major figures of the Second School of Paris, he exhibited in France, Sweden, the United States, and Japan. His work has been included in several public collections.

This pastel by Gustav Bolin, dated 1964, depicts a landscape in bright, expressive colors.
The work combines greens, yellows, and blues in a dense and vibrant composition. The free brushwork and overlapping tones convey a sense of nature in motion, almost dreamlike.
A luminous piece by an international artist rooted in the postwar Parisian scene.
