"Claire Bertrand-eisenschitz "petrified May Flowers" "
Oil on canvas "petrified May flowers" signed lower right Claire Bertrand. French school. 55 X 33 cm (82 X 60 cm with the frame) Claire Bertrand-Eisenschitz (1890-1969) inherited from her mother, a talented pianist, a passion for music which inspired her sonorous rhythms or muffled modulations, these Tempo and these allegro, these imprecise contours yet very assertive in their well-structured construction. She trained at the Académie Julian, then in the René Ménard and Lucien Simon studios at the Grande-Chaumière where she met the painter Willy Eisenschitz (1889-1974) whom she married in 1914. In 1921, with him, she discovered the southern light which brightened their palette and gave them a taste for warm and generous tones. They settled in Haute Provence, then in 1929 in La Valette (Var). Source: Schur Dictionary of Little Masters of Painting. Claire Bertrand had nothing to envy in the talent of her illustrious husband, her character, her sensitivity and her passion gave her the weapons so that her works would stand out in the eyes of all. Painted and patinated wooden frame from the period (small accidents to the frame). Oil on canvas in good condition. 1200 euros.
