Wood panel with Christ and brass decoration, Brittany, 19th century
This panel displays a wood Corpus Christi, depicted expiring with head leaning to the right on torso. He wears a short perizonium and a twisted crown of thorns. The panel is decorated with a repoussé brass frame. Un circle surrounds the Christ and vegetal patterns adorn bottom corners. Upper part shows a breton family praying in front of a Holy Face representation, two daughters and their parents kneeling down. The mother keeps a book in her hands, and the father holds a little boy. An arc of circle of clouds delimits the backgroud.
A decoration of nailed little brass spikes represents the cross and adorns the rest of the panel.
Excelllent condition, some tiny bumps on repoussé frame.
