Cut Crystal And Gilded Bronze Candy Dish – "love Writing" – Charles X Period
A beautiful, lidded Charles X-era candy dish, combining high-quality cut crystal with a rich gilded bronze setting.
The bowl features a design of broad lanceolate motifs, alternating between deep cuts and fine ribs, topped by a frieze of geometric patterns. It rests on a crystal pedestal, which in turn sits on a circular gilded bronze base, finely chased with friezes of palmettes, foliage, and Greek frets.
The setting rests on three feet depicting the heads of winged cherubs. The lid, also made of cut crystal and edged with gilded bronze, is topped by a charming winged cherub, seated and busy writing on a tablet.
A particularly decorative set, remarkable for the quality of its crystal and the finesse of its setting.
