Large Bronze Vase Decorated With Fauns And Classical Scenes – 19th Century

Large bronze vase decorated with fauns and classical scenes – 19th century

Impressive decorative bronze vase with a chocolate-brown patina, in the style of antiquity.

The body features a rich relief decoration of draped female figures dancing and playing music, accompanied by garlands of vine leaves. The neck, adorned with foliage motifs, is flanked by two fauns seated on the shoulder of the vase, one holding a cup, the other a bunch of grapes. The ensemble evokes the world of Bacchus and the festivals of antiquity.

The vase rests on a pedestal decorated with acanthus leaves and a quadrangular bronze base. Crafted in several parts, it features a visible piece of wood beneath the base.

Condition: Beautiful antique chocolate-brown patina, with some wear and traces of oxidation. The two fauns show slight looseness where they are attached from the inside. The cup held by one of them has been re-glued. See photographs.
