Green Opaline Box With Gold Decoration Set Under Glass – Charles X Period, Circa 1830–1840
Green opaline box with gold decoration set under glass – Charles X period, circa 1830–1840
A charming round green opaline box, adorned with a gilded metal frame featuring a design of foliage scrolls and small flowers, in the style of the first half of the 19th century.
The hinged lid is adorned with a polychrome glass-mounted scene depicting a lively view of an imposing public building with a monumental façade, set against a vast square filled with people, horsemen, and horse-drawn carriages. The delicacy of this small scene contrasts pleasantly with the luminous green of the opaline and the richness of the metal decoration.
